One of the greatest pop composers from Serbia Željko Joksimović will make a special appearance on the 14th of February, 2014 in Istanbul Zorlu Center PSM. The multi -talented composer, singer, multi-instrumentalist, arranger and music producer Željko Joksimović is bringing his latest “Balkan project”, his crowning achievement, to Istanbul. This will be Željko s first concert in this city after 10 year and the time when he was runner-up at Eurovision Song Contest with his legendary song “Lane moje”.
Joksimović and his Ad Hoc Orchestra will be performing an evening featuring many of the cinema music, theater scores, and popular music pieces that have brought him the well-deserved recognition as one of the foremost musical artists in Europe and Balkans.
– The Balkan Project has been prepared for years and I am very proud of this idea. Therefore it is very important for me to hear the public opinion. The basic idea is that it should be a link of musical heritage of the Balkan countries and that every country can find their identity in music as superb and the only art that has no boundaries. Therefore, as much as for my fans in Turkey I am eagerly waiting to come in Istanbul – explained Željko Joksimović .
The performer, who enchanted all of Europe in 2004 with his masterpiece “Lane Moje”, introduced Serbian instruments (including reed, pipe, tapan and djembe) to a broad international audience. This was the beginning of his hugely successful career to come – commencing in Paris in 1984 with the “Europe’s first accordion” award, and continuing to this day.
He is celebrated all over Europe for his extraordinary vocals and renditions of haunting Balkan tunes. With his extraordinary successes in multiple Eurovision contests, he has introduced his distinctive sound to a very broad audience, and as one of the Balkans’ biggest stars, regularly plays to crowds of 80,000 and above. For this occasion he will perform with the Ad Hoc Orchestra in their full appearance, the team with which he is performing on special occasions, such as performing at the Eurovision Song Contest in Baku in 2012 , Concert for Peace in Sarajevo and others.
